A Solar eclipse happens when the moon during its orbit around earth comes between the sun and the earth. The moon blocks the suns rays and a shadow of the shadow of the moon in cast over the earth. The moon can either fully or partially block the sun seen from somewhere on earth. It can only happen during a new moon. At least 2 and up to 5 solar eclipses happen each year no more then 2 can be total Solar eclipses.
